Neighbors Working Together for Fire Safety

Firewise USA is a national recognition program from the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) built on a simple idea: wildfire risk goes down when neighbors work on it together. To join, a community forms a local team, assesses its wildfire risk, and takes practical steps each year to make homes and neighborhoods more fire resistant.

Communities that meet the program's yearly requirements keep their "In Good Standing" status and stay recognized as an official Firewise Site. Modoc County has nine.
